Halloween

I'm a hypocrite. Basically I'm not a big Satan's Day fan. I don't like how it confuses the issues in Christian minds. We are called to be in the world but not of it. I'm not sure where to draw the line. How does one be in the world on Halloween day but not be of it? When my daughter dresses up like a butterfly she isn't celebrating Ye Old Devil. But am I letting something slide that I really shouldn't? Have we become so much like the world we live in that the difference becomes unrecognizable? When Christmas comes along I hate to say it but I have the same issues. Christmas generally isn't about Christ. Easter isn't about the resurrection. By the same token, maybe Halloween isn't about Lucifer?

A friend of mine says it would be harmful to his kids if he didn't let them go. I admit kids that don't go probably are viewed by their peers as being a little weird. Be that as it may I'm not sure a little weirdness isn't good for our kids and ourselves. The real young kids don't know they are missing out if they don't go trick or treating. For the older kids maybe it's time that we parents started teaching them a life lesson about how being a Christ follower means not fitting in sometimes. My daughter still went trick or treating and was the prettiest butterfly I ever saw. Like I said I'm a hypocrite.

On a somewhat lighter note, some may be interested in witnessing techniques for Halloween:

1. Wait for unsaved children to come to your door and hurl a bucket full of warm lamb's blood (goat or dog blood can be substituted later in the night if you run out) all over their hair and faces. Shout - "I plead the power of the Blood of the Perfect Lamb over you! Take that! FOUL DEMON!"

Dunno

>>But am I letting something slide that I really shouldn't?

Nah

>>Have we become so much like the world we live in that the difference becomes unrecognizable?

We are people and tend to be alike, but then again our DNS is 99.6% similar to frogs.

>>By the same token, maybe Halloween isn't about Lucifer?

Make no mistake, Halloween is 100% about candy. Dang where did I put my left over boxes of snow caps.

Thanks Sal. I dig the refrence to frogs. Maybe that's why they turn into princes?
